What are the differences between the tours?
All-day tours include going a little further into the fjords and seeing the calving glaciers and wildlife. A half-day tour includes going around the bay and seeing nature.
A half-day tour takes you around the bay. You will have a good chance of seeing wildlife, but not the majestic tidewater glaciers that calve into the ocean. All the tour companies go to the same places and do a great job, so next consider what time you want to go and if you would like a full buffet on the boat, a deli meal, or a salmon bake at an island. The Kenai Fjords 8 1/2 is the same as their 6-hour tour and is longer because of the time taken for the meal on the island. Major Marine Tours 7.5 tour is the same as their 6-hour tour but offers two calving glaciers instead of one. Kenai Fjords 9 hour tour and Major Marine’s 8.5-hour tour are the same tours. They both go further into the fjords, allowing you more time and the opportunity to see more wildlife.
